Importance of national cuisine

by
national cuisine

National cuisines are the center of every culture. The first thing tourists do in other countries is try their cuisine. And only after the cuisine, they are going to museums and other sights.

Armenia is one the Caucasian countries that are famous for its cuisine. Sometimes people say that Armenian cuisine looks like Georgian cuisine or Middle Eastern cuisine, but I don’t agree as it is totally different, you can compare dishes and you will see. The only similarity between them is that all these Caucasian cuisines are nutritious.

Eating Armenian food will make you feel filled for half of the day. If you are in Armenia you should try all the dishes from Armenian cuisine, if you are vegetarian, no problem, we have a wide range of vegetarian food as well.

National cuisines

Nations and cuisines are products of human ingenuity, initiative, and imagination. They appear to allude to material objects, such as the planet, the natural world, specific geographic locations, and the goods produced there. In this sense, nationalities reveal information about places, and cuisines reveal information about food. Similar to how nations inhabit geographical regions, such as projecting landmasses, landlocked mountains, or chains of islands, cuisines are also composed of earthly ingredients like butter, meat, saffron, and garlic. But in the present era, foods are so closely linked to cuisines and locations in countries that it is impossible to distinguish between them.

Based on shared cultural traditions and traditional recipes, food plays a significant part in realizing national identity. A nation’s eating habits are defined by certain products and recipes that are considered to be national staples. They frequently provide a specific origin story and the timeline for the recipes.

Should we concentrate on separating food cultures along national lines? What about variations in cooking methods, ingredients, and recipes according to the region? It appears unavoidable to separate behaviors along these precise national lines in a world of nation-states. It may not be so easy to characterize food culture from a national perspective because regional variations in eating practices exist in all nations.

Armenian Cuisine

For Armenians eating tasty is very important. In ancient times they were working all they long and then were laying table and with the whole family started to have dinner. There is a saying in Armenia “Have seven sons around the table”, meaning to have many children and have food with all of them around you.

Armenian food is nutritious but very tasty. Armenian dolma, harrisa, qyufta, arishta, khash, spas, etc. are quite different from what you know but they will be like exploring, you will taste, and at least some of them you will definitely love.

Some fishes from Armenian cuisine can remind you of something. For example, arishta is like Armenian pasta. Harrisa is like Slovakian haluski.

Armenians have their own bread which they call lavash. Lavash and cheese were and are Armenians’ snacks. When you are not so hungry but you want to eat something you should eat lavash and cheese. Or lavash with butter and honey.

If you are in Armenia, you should definitely try Armenian cuisine. Choose the things you never ate as traveling is all about exploring new things and experiencing new feelings.
